3.2.1 Canadian Centres, Organizations and Institutions

- Dharma Centre of Canada (www.dharmacentre.org) Buddhist and Western wisdom traditions, the arts and nature, healing on all levels, founded by Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche and carried on by his students, part of a world wide group of centres in this tradition;
- Toronto Institute for Self Healing and The Fourth Way radical therapy method for becoming the ‘true self’, focused on the breath, affirmation, stroking and responsibility, utilizing a therapeutic community model;
- Canadian Association for Integrative and Energy Therapies (www.caiet.org), an organization of licensed mental health professionals and related energy and integrative health practitioners;
- Ruah, An Eco-Centred Community of Faith (www.ruahtoronto.org) draws on Thomas Berry's theme of the authentic maturation of humans as a species, through reflecting and enacting the inspirational breath of God (Hebrew Ruah, a feminine hypostasis), creation spirituality, ecofeminism, social justice and respect for the Earth as sacred in the unfolding evolutionary story of the cosmos.
- Marion Woodman Foundation (www.mwoodmanfoundation.org) BodySoul Rythms work, a dream oriented, movement based, Jungian focused collaboration between Marion Woodman, Mary Hamilton and Ann Skinner;
- Rising Sun School of T’ai Chi Ch’uan (www.risingsun.com) movement meditation that is excercise, healing, philosophy, based in the Yang Family system, and the Somatic Healing Arts Clinic utilizing Traditional Chinese Medicine and psychotherapy;
- Systema Downtown (Toronto) (www.systemadowntown.com) Russian Martial Art using intuitive, natural movement to develop your own style);
- Shambhala Meditation Centre of Toronto; (www.toronto.shambhala.org) affiliated with the Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche tradition of Buddhism and contemplative arts;
- Gitche M’Qua Centre for Healing and Dying (www.gitchemqua.org) End-of-Life Care, meditation, healing arts, drawing on aboriginal traditions and Buddhism, including the teachings of Joan Halifax and Dyanhi Ywahoo;
- Hollyhock (www.hollyhock.ca) Canada’s West coast equivalent to Esalen, focused on wellness, wisdom practices, arts and culture, business and leadership;
- Himalayan Institute in Canada (www.himalayaninstituteofcanada.ca) yoga, meditation, psychology, holistic health;
- Ontario Society of Physicians for Complementary Medicine (www.ospcm.org), founded in 1997 out of a concern for the political and regulatory climate concerning complementary medicine;
- Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (www.cape.ca) is concerned about ecosystem health, human health and sustainable development, with objectives to educate physicians on environmental issues, to prepare spokespersons to comment on the health implications of environmental issues, to serve as a "think tank", to provide a forum in which physicians can meet and discuss, to advocate certain positions or courses of action;
- International Society of Doctors for the Environment (www.isde.org), an international federation of physicians' organizations concerned with the environment, recognized by the UN as an NGO, recognizes CAPE as its Canadian affiliate, has 24 national and regional affiliates and about 20,000 members in 50 countries, sponsoring a Scientific Center and International School on Environment and Health.
